1. a precious or semiprecious stone, especially when cut and polished or engraved.
2. something prized especially for its great beauty or perfection.
It’s called "Gem Lakes trail" because it loops around a small, sparkling group of lakes named after precious stones—Jade, Diamond, Opal, Sapphire and Pearl.
If you ask me, “Gem Lakes” is also a fitting name because it’s “something prized especially for its great beauty and perfection.”
Located in Narrow Hills Provincial Park, near the geological centre of Saskatchewan, the Gem Lakes sparkle in the summer sunshine and reflect their lush green surroundings.
The well marked trail should take less than 2 hours to complete, but add some extra time if you plan on bringing a camera because you’ll want to stop a LOT.
