Earlier this summer, I visited La Ronge where I had the opportunity to view the massive library of core samples stored at the La Ronge Precambrian Geological Laboratory. This Unique laboratory acts as a library of core samples from various mineral occurances found in the north. The lab is an important resource to help understand the geological context of various types of mineral occurances in the northern regions of Saskatchewan. Companies take core samples of rock in their exploration for potential mineral finds and contribute some of these to the lab. The samples help geologists and companies research mineral opportunities in the north, with the goal of establishing viable, operating mines that provide revenues to the province, as well as commercial business opportunities and jobs for the residents of northern Saskatchewan.
