The Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital is going to be an incredible step forward for this province when it comes to healthcare and the well-being of people in need, particularly children and their families.
The hospital has been designed by children, parents, staff and physicians and is being built by Graham Construction, a Saskatchewan company that has been in the province for ninety years.
Some of the key differences from other Saskatchewan hospitals include: private patient rooms (all of them have windows!), school rooms, family rooms, teen lounge rooms, play areas, kitchen amenities and a helipad on the roof for the STARS ambulance to land on. More than $75 million has been donated to the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation for this world-class facility here in Saskatchewan. One of the main considerations in designing this hospital was to make patients feel as at home as possible. You can expect to see different aspects of the province incorporated in the design, from the colours chosen to the room names.
The hospital is over 60% complete and is on track to open its doors in late 2019!
