Not too long ago, I made my way to Qu'Appelle Valley for a fun day-trip that was full of sight seeing and taste testing! But it was my first time touring the valley and lucky enough, I had a 'Co-Wanderer' with me that day, my friend Al who was representing Directwest. — my official search partner. Directwest had put on a contest earlier this fall for their staff to have the chance in winning a day with the wanderer, and in order to enter, they had to come up with their own trip itinerary. Al was chosen as the winner, and his trip intinerary was for a visit to Fort Qu'Appelle and area!
Acting as my tour guide for the day, we made a number of stops, but began our day with a search for a place to have breakfast, using our MySask411 Apps. We found the Valley Bake & Coffee Shop in Fort Qu'Appelle, where it is said that this is "where the valley meets for breakfast" so we had to stop in for a fresh cinnamon bun and cup of coffee of course!
After fuelling up, we headed through the valley to Lebret. Hiked up the hill and up the famous steps to take-in the view overlooking the town, stopped at a few other local shops, then grabbed our paddles and went for a late afternoon kayak on Katepwa Lake. To cap things off, the fall colours were looking there absolute best too! If you happen to have the chance in touring this area of the Qu'Appelle Valley, I'd take it. Thank you Directwest and Al for the fun day of Wanderering!
