My Food Story - Ag Month 2018!

Sharing homegrown food and stories among family, friends and neighbours has always had a special spot in my heart. In celebration of Ag Month, here is my food story I would like to share with you! 

Growing up with a plum tree in my backyard, I got used to picking the plums off every August, and there was an abundance of the delicious plums each year. With these plums, my family would often use them in baking our traditional desert called "Plum Kuchen." Yum Yum Yum!

Here is my family Plum Kuchen recipe:

- 10" springform pan

- 1/4 cup butter

- 3/4 cup sugar 

- Beat 2 eggs in

- Combine 1 cup of flour

- 1 tea spoon of baking powder

- Add light zest shavings of lemon

- Mix all until light and fluffy

- Combine all + pat into greased 10" pan 

- Slice plums + remove stones

- Then arrange the batter that sits in the pan

- Combine 1/2 cup of brown sugar +1 tea spoon of cinamon

- Then sprinkle on top

- Place pan on cookie sheet and bake for 50 minutes at 350 degrees, then cool for 10 minutes
