Saskatchewan Multicultural Week

Posted Felipe's 2021 Adventure

Being a newcomer to Saskatchewan, I was so happy to learn this province was the first to enact multicultural legislation, preserving and celebrating cultural diversity.

When I arrived, so many people were really interested and supportive of my art, educational projects at schools, and epic adventures on a bicycle and I felt so welcomed.

To celebrate this Multicultural Week, I visited one of my favourite restaurants in Sasktoon. Leyda's Cafe is a gluten-free establishment led by rockstar Chef, Miguel de Lucas.

Originally from Spain, Miguel shares his love for nutrient-dense staples and carefully sourced proteins, as well as little known superfoods. He artfully uses the most sustainably-sourced, freshest in-season ingredients he can find. And yes, it's all gluten-free.

Miguel's passion for Saskatchewan is reflected in his creations, where he mixes locally sourced ingredients, Mediterranean flavour and Saskatchewan signature dishes. My favourite item on the menu is the bison burger, each bite is a taste tripping adventure across the globe!

I have met so many inspiring and innovative people who came from far away lands to fall in love with Saskatchewan. The diversity of this province makes it a really special place. Speaking as a newcomer, I know we all hope to contribute and share our gifts with the multicultural landscape of our new home.

Help celebrate Multicultural Week in Saskatchewan. This week is celebrated each November the week that includes November 22. For more information on Multicultural Week, visit the Multicultural Council of Saskatchewan website. #TogetherWeMakeSaskatchewanStrong
